How Do You Do It All? My 5 Tips for Time Management

A clean, modern flat-lay image with a calendar, coffee cup, and laptop on a neutral desk background. Bold, feminine typography overlay reads: “5 Time Management Tips for Busy Women” in soft blush and charcoal colors.

I get asked this all the time: “How do you do it all?” Between owning and teaching at my Pilates studio three or four days a week, working as a nurse in an OB/GYN office two days a week, posting new blog articles twice a week, and working as an independent cosmetic nurse injector… life is full.

But here’s the truth: I don’t “do it all” perfectly. My laundry pile is proof of that. What I do is focus on what matters, stay present, and protect my time. I genuinely love the things I’ve chosen to fill my life with, and that makes all the difference.

Here are my 5 best time management tips, not from an “expert,” but from someone living a very busy, very full, and very meaningful life.

Tip 1: Love What You’re Saying Yes To

I don’t think I could sustain this kind of schedule if I didn’t actually enjoy the work I do. Teaching Pilates lights me up. Nursing fills my heart. Writing helps me process and share my voice. Injecting allows me to connect with clients in a personal way.

I actually love that every day of my week looks different. Monday, I might be working at the OB/GYN office. Wednesday, I’m in the studio teaching. Friday, I’m working on a blog post or seeing injectables clients. Some people crave routine; I crave variety. It keeps life interesting and prevents me from feeling stuck in a “same thing every day” rut.

👉 Takeaway: Don’t say yes to things that drain you. If you’re going to commit, ensure it’s something that brings joy or fulfillment to your life. Passion fuels stamina.

💡 Time-Saver Tip:

Want to boost your productivity? I personally use and love Todoist! It keeps my daily tasks organized and helps me stay focused and on point. When I want to go analog, I reach for my Blue Sky Planner.

Tip 2: Plan, But Don’t Overplan

My calendar is my lifeline, but I don’t fill it to the brim. I schedule the non-negotiables (work shifts, classes, writing deadlines), and then I leave space for flexibility.

Here’s the thing: I’m actually a last-minute social scheduler. I don’t plan a ton of extras weeks in advance because I like to wake up on my day off and see how I feel. Most weeks, I only have one day completely off, and that day is sacred. That’s my church, cleaning, grocery shopping, and rest day. Sometimes I’ll wake up and feel like meeting a friend for lunch, but if I’m tired, I give myself permission to keep it quiet.

👉 Takeaway: Plan your priorities, but don’t overstuff your schedule. Give yourself room to breathe, rest, and decide in the moment.

Tip 3: Be Present in the Now

This one is huge for me. I don’t worry about tomorrow’s tasks when I’m busy with today’s. If I’m teaching Pilates, I’m not running through my to-do list for work the next morning. If I’m at the OB/GYN office, I’m focused on my patients, not stressing about my blog.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking about five things at once, but that just creates overwhelm. By tackling one task at a time and being fully present, I accomplish things more efficiently and with less stress.

👉 Takeaway: Focus on what’s in front of you. Tomorrow’s tasks can wait until tomorrow.

Tip 4: Boundaries Are Everything

With a full schedule, I have to protect my time. That means saying no sometimes to extra commitments, late-night plans, and anything that I know will leave me running on empty.

This is why my rest day is so sacred. Without it, I would burn out fast. Having a day where I know I can recharge (and still get the groceries and cleaning done!) allows me to show up better everywhere else.

👉 Takeaway: Boundaries aren’t selfish. They’re necessary if you want to show up well in the roles that matter most.

Tip 5: Give Yourself Grace

Even with good planning, some weeks don’t go smoothly. I forget things. I run late. I write blog posts in the Notes app on my phone during my lunch break at work. And you know what? That’s okay.

I’ve learned to let go of perfection and focus on progress. At the end of the week, what matters is that I’ve invested in the people and work that I care about. My house may not be Pinterest-ready, but my heart feels full.

👉 Takeaway: You don’t have to be perfect to be productive. Give yourself grace, and keep moving forward.

Kelly’s Thoughts

So, how do I do it all? The truth is, I don’t. Not perfectly, anyway. However, I’ve found a rhythm that works because I love what I do. I stay present in the moment, protect my time, and give myself grace.

If you’re juggling a lot, remember: you don’t need to manage time flawlessly. You just need to create a flow that feels right for you.
