There’s something so nostalgic about a warm, bubbling casserole fresh from the oven. In our family, one dish has stood the test of time, bringing comfort and joy to every generation—our beloved Waldorf Tuna Casserole. This isn’t your average tuna casserole; it has a delightful twist with crisp apples, crunchy walnuts, and a creamy, tangy dressing that takes it to the next level.

Whether making it for a weeknight dinner, a potluck, or just because you’re craving something warm and satisfying, this dish will surely please. Plus, it’s versatile—swap out the tuna for chicken if you’d like!

Serving Suggestions

While this casserole is perfectly satisfying on its own, we love pairing it with my Colorific Salad—a vibrant, nutrient-packed side dish that beautifully balances the rich, creamy casserole. With its mix of colorful veggies, nuts, and a zesty homemade dressing, it adds the perfect freshness to the meal.

Make It Your Own

This recipe is an excellent base for customization. Here are some ways to switch it up:

  • Swap the Protein: Replace tuna with cooked, shredded chicken for a slightly different flavor.
  • Try a Different Cheese: While cheddar adds a sharp richness, Swiss, Gouda, or Monterey Jack would also work well.
  • Add More Crunch: Toss in some panko breadcrumbs or extra chopped walnuts on top before baking for an extra crispy topping.
  • Boost the Veggies: Add chopped bell peppers, peas, or spinach for more color and nutrition.

Why This Recipe is a Keeper

The Waldorf Tuna Casserole has been a go-to dish in our home for years. The meal brings everyone to the table, ready to enjoy something warm, hearty, and made with love. The creamy, crunchy, and tangy elements make it stand out from the usual tuna casseroles, giving it that special homemade touch.

So, the next time you need an easy, satisfying dish that feels like a warm hug in a bowl, try this family favorite. We promise it’ll become a staple in your home, too!

Happy cooking, and don’t forget to serve it with my Colorific Salad for the ultimate meal! 🍽️🥗
