If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I enjoy skincare. I like learning about it, trying things, and figuring out what fits into my routine.
I’m an RN in my early 50s, and I’m interested in caring for my skin as it changes. I want a routine I can actually stick to, and I don’t want every evening to turn into a full production.
With Amazon’s fall Prime shopping event happening now, I put together a skincare list that starts with my everyday basics, plus a few favorite extras.
Prime Days are a great time to replace a favorite product or purchase a small accessory that makes getting ready easier. It’s also a time to consider a bigger purchase you’ve been thinking about for a while.
Let me show you what I’m loving, and maybe you’ll find something useful for your routine.

A Gentle Cleanser That Fits Your Skin
Some evenings, washing my face feels like too much effort. That’s when I appreciate keeping things simple.
For a cleanser, I want it to exfoliate while keeping my skin hydrated. I can’t stand cleansers that strip my skin and make it feel tight and dry.
If you’re looking for a new cleanser, a sale can be a good time to check the price of a replacement. This is my go-to gentle, exfoliating cleanser. I use it at home and take it with me when I travel. I hate to be without it.

Moisturizer for My Everyday Routine
A moisturizer is one of those purchases where I care much more about using it than admiring it on the bathroom counter.
Does it feel comfortable? Does it work with the other things I apply, like serums, SPF, and foundation? Do I like the texture enough to keep using it?
Those questions help me more than buying something simply because the packaging says “anti-aging.” I also want to know how much product I’m getting, especially when comparing a sale price with retail pricing.
Your skin and preferences may be different from mine. What feels wonderful to one person might be too rich or too light for someone else.
These are my top three face moisturizers:

Tatcha Plumping Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid: A little pricey, but so worth it.

Clinique Moisture Surge: I’ve used this moisturizer for a hundred years. It’s my old standby that I always come back to.

Evening Primrose Oil, Cold Pressed, Unrefined, USA I recently started using evening primrose oil in my nighttime routine. It contains omega-6 fatty acids, including GLA (Gamma-Linolenic Acid). In topical skincare, it acts as an emollient, helping dry skin feel softer and smoother. Plus it reduces inflammation and strengthens the skin barrier. Sometimes I use it alone; other nights, I add a few drops to my moisturizer.
Here’s my fav body moisturizers (be aware: if you’re sensitive to fragrance, these are scented. The scent is light and clean, but there is a scent.):

The Serum I Actually Reach For
Oh, the serums. It’s very easy to look at all those little bottles and think you need one of everything (cuz I often do!)
Choosing only one for this blog would’ve been a challenge. That is, until I came across this serum on Prime Day in June 2025. I just checked, and I’ve purchased it 6 times since!! (Does that tell you how much I love it?)

My desert island must-have face serum is TOSOWOONG Pink Peptide 12 PDRN Serum. It leaves my skin with a luminous, dewy shine, and I often get asked, “What are you using on your skin that makes it look so good?”
A Fragrance-Free Find That Deserves Its Own Spot
If you read my fragrance-free post, you know this has become a much bigger consideration for me.
After my allergist told me I’m extremely sensitive to fragrance, I started looking more closely at the products I was using throughout the day. That includes skincare.
When I’m shopping, I want to look at the current ingredients rather than rely only on the product photo or a familiar name. Formulas can change, and similar-looking versions of a product can be different.
I’m paying more attention to those details now when choosing face and body products. Everyone’s sensitivities are different, but for me, fragrance is something I check before getting excited about a new find.

Little Extras That Make Getting Ready Easier & Enjoyable
Sometimes it’s the little things that make your routine more enjoyable! These are a few of my favorites for skincare, hair, and getting ready.
Facial Sponges
These compressed sponges are soft with a little exfoliating texture. Add water and watch them expand! They’re reusable, and the pack includes 50, so you’ll have lots of replacements.

A Lighted Magnifying Mirror
If your eyes are getting older like mine, you’ll appreciate this one! The lighting and magnification help with tweezing, microneedling (Get my beginner’s guide here), applying makeup, and seeing what you’re doing. Sometimes I see a little more than I want to. LOL!

My Favorite Hair Dryer Brush
I love this thing! It dries my hair quickly and leaves it smooth and shiny. Having the dryer and brush in one makes getting ready so much easier. I’ve been using this one for 6 years and counting!

My Favorite Sheet Masks
When I want a little extra skincare time, these are the masks I reach for. I find them soothing and moisturizing, and they’re an easy way to enjoy a few quiet minutes while giving my skin some attention.

COSRX Snail Mucin Sheet Mask — 10 Masks

REJURAN Turnover c-PDRN Face Mask — 5 Masks
The Lip Serum I Use All Day
This is my favorite lip serum, and I don’t save it just for bedtime! I reach for it throughout the day like I would lip balm.

Dr.Reju-All Advanced PDRN Rejuvenating Lip Serum
Red Light Therapy at Home
Red light is part of my routine, and these options won’t break the bank!

LED Light Therapy Face Mask
My daughter has used and loved this mask for years! It has several different light options, too.

Red Light Therapy for the Body
I’ve had this lamp for about six months, and I like it. My previous light warmed up, and I preferred that cozy warmth. This one doesn’t get warm or hot… something to keep in mind if you enjoy that feeling, too!
What Makes a Skincare Purchase Worth It to Me
I want to be able to answer a few questions before putting something in the cart:
- Where does this fit into my routine?
- Do I already own something that does the same job?
- Have I checked the exact formula or model?
- Is the price reasonable for the size and amount I’ll use?
- For a device, have I read the instructions, warranty, and return details?
On Amazon, I’d also check the seller. A product photo can look familiar, but the seller or listing details may differ Look for the brand’s authorized purchasing options and check those details before checking out.
And if something you already love is discounted, that can be a more useful purchase than experimenting with five new things at once.
My Thoughts on Skincare Shopping During a Sale
I enjoy a good skincare find. I also know how easy it is to get excited about something new and then realize it doesn’t fit into your routine.
Start with what you need. Maybe you’re almost out of your moisturizer. There could be a small accessory that would make washing your face easier. Or you’ve researched a device and are ready to compare prices.
You don’t have to buy something from every category. Pick what makes sense for you, and leave the rest for later.
I’ll keep my broader favorite purchases of 2026 roundup for Black Friday. This Amazon Prime Day list is a mix of my favorite newer skin and body care products, along with some oldies but goodies I’ve used for years.
What skincare product or tool do you keep going back to? Tell me in the comments! I love hearing what earns a permanent spot in your routine.
